PPC or Pay Per Click is paid placement in search results such as the ads that appear on the right side of the page in Google’s results. SEO refers to organic placement in the search results that fill the page.
PPC is a way to pay for traffic from page one, two or any page that you do not rank for in the organic results.

SEO and PPC are both two very different strategies for traffic generation. I would explain everything here but if you visit http://trevornashkeller.com you will find detailed already written articles on both of these topics.

This is a very complex subject, but to learn the basics and the pro tips and trick on SEO and PPC, go to http://atdinner.com you’ll find a ton of great information to help you out.

PPC stands for Pay Per Click and refers to paid advertising. Most of the SEs (Search Engines) have an advertising platform:
Google AdWords in Google
AdCenter in MSN/Live
SearchMarketing in Yahoo formerly known as Overture
Ask.com also launched a PPC platform but I haven’t tried out that one yet.
The basic are very simple – you sign up for one or more of the above, decide which are the keywords or phrases you wish to target and create ads which will be shown in the Sponsored Link on the right side of the Search menu (sometimes above the organic results). For Google AdWords you can also opt in the Content Network in which case your ads will be shown on other sites whic have Google AdSence codes. From my experiance the content network doesn’t work for every niche so you will have to decide for yourself.
As the name says you pay when somebody clicks on your ad. PPC will drive your site targeted traffic (if done right) and MAYBE raise your brand awaresness but that is all. It will not help you rank better in the SERPs (Search Engines Result Pages)
