I am the marketing director of a company which has had tremendous results. One person who was very close to us went and filed a rip off report online because of personal issues..when confronted he was extremely guilty and apologized to take it back but realized he couldn’t do it. We wanted to do rebuttal and so did he but when consulted with internet reputation guys they said not to do it as it would show up more on the first page. We have had tremendous amount of satisfied client and not one single dissatisfied customer. How should a victim of bad internet publicity handle the situation. How can we push such negative entries backward on search engines without causing much scenes with rebuttals? Please help as its my job to take care of it and I am not sure how! (Heard something about search engine optimization..not sure how to do it myself ). Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated..thanks !!

Hello ALL,

I work for a NYC agency and its going on (2) years and I’m still a temp. When I first applied for this job, I applied through the website and was offered the job after it was turned down by another applicant because the money wasn’t enough. SO okay, I was very happy at that time for the opportunity. At this time, there were (3) of us in the unit. Usually with the city, the paperwork takes a few months, so they brought me on as a temp and told me my paper work was going through the approval process at OMB. Okay, fine. A few months pass, I hear that its stuck in the hiring freeze so I’ll have to wait. Okay, fine. Fast forward to June 08, they repost my position again, so now the first position, god knows what happen to it. So I apply to the repost and now they’re telling me that my paper work is stuck at OMB again for whatever reason, hiring freeze. I’m like how come my paperwork always get stuck at that particular time. Anyway, I’ve been on a few interviews since last year but nothing never became of it, either because I wasn’t really intrigued about the position or maybe it was that most of my applications were sent because of frustration and I just didn’t know if I was going or coming in this place.

Alright, so its now February 09, in a few months I’ll be hear 2 years. Now the lady that was here for 20+ years left this bureau and went to another agency because she just about had it with these people. From the scandals in management to the lunatics that we have to work with in other bureaus, this is just a nut house. This nut house however, has made me into a serial entrepreneur, and has allowed me to channel my frustration to create websites and I now have my my own internet marketing and web design company. I alreaedy have my comp registered but its under my mom’s name. But I have the site up and I’m ready to heavy marketing.

So here I am in the present and just about ready to get out of here so I can focus my energy on my business, my 2 girls and increase my skills for my entrepreneurial dreams by going back to school and taking some business courses. I would really like to just leave this place and get unemployment benefits becaues I know they will keep stringing me along and using the hiring freeze as an excuse. I have no health benefits, no nothing. I had to skip 1 week for the last month just to get my 1 year old daughter medicaid. If i dont come in or my kids get sick I dont get paid. Its ridiculous, I could do so much with my sites and my new business ideas. I have my bf that’s working and soon we’ll be getting a good refund that should help sustain.

When I’m here its all chaos and frustration seeing management get over with their affairs and scandals. I’ve had it. I need some way to get out with a good cause for unemployment. They already know that I’m frustrated but they think because of the economy I have no where to go. They don’t know about my business that I have and the web design skills that I’ve been advancing. They think I’m just a simple young procurement agent who has (2) girls and needs to hold on to this because I need them more than they need more. Even so, that’s the least I’m thinking, I would just like to go and start working on myself, my future and making sure I’m there for my girls and not have to scramble with them everyday to come to a place that is only frustrating me and stressing me out. Please someone give me some guidance.

Its a shame that the government cannot control their spending… I am on SSI, they (the government) make sure that I’m and other people in my situation, that we are dead poor. Maybe just maybe they should live on 0 per month and pay for everything (mortgage, fuel, heat)
It’s a shame that they are asking/ making us “the poor” (mind you there is no middle class anymore– some people have it and the rest of us don’t) to bailout the rich.

Maybe just maybe the one’s that have it all, the ones that took the huge bonuses for job well done should be asked to give it back …lol… ask them to PUT IT BACK — after all they didn’t do such a great job…

Another thought… every one tells as we need to have the bailout… WHY???
No one can give us a clear answer
No one can paint a picture to as what will be like if we don’t do it. WHY???

We should have had the bailout 3 days ago… as we all know it – it didn’t happened
and the result is :
some /few people panicked
and the stack market went little down… (Why no one remembers few years back when the internet companies took the market down same way)
Medial paints a very vague picture of this whole thing, WHY?
Maybe just maybe because there is not much to say about it.
WAMU (Washington Mutual Bank) is also questionable, WHY only that bank was stormed by some people to get their money out… lol… why just WAMU… maybe, just maybe all is a set up???? Too close to election, too close to holidays – maybe just maybe we are being played?

Remember, we made it thru the last 3 days…
why can’t we make it thru the next 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years and so on???

Oh… right… that wasn’t why I came here in the first place…lol… okay….
Please bail me out – my personal economy is falling no matter what I try… the 0/per month just does not cut it anymore. I need 20K – that is all

My experience looks like this:
2003-2009 finance / credit analysis for a commercial lender
2002-2003 Sales (low level interim position, one company, 14 months)
2001-2002 Interim clerical work (one company, 13 months)
1999-2000 General manager, internet company
1995-1999 Marketing director, international trade consulting

The issue is that when the dot com bubble burst, I had some personal (family) issues that forced me to move back to a small town with a limited job market and took two jobs which I did well at, but were off track from my career. Where my resume was business and management prior to 2001, if I use a chronological resume, I look like a guy that has a lack of focus, or an unclear skill set. If I use a functional format, there is a gap in my employment from 2000 to 2003 — and I don’t want an HR person to assume the worst.

Any advice? Thanks for your help!

I live in the Seattle, WA area, and more than a few people have come into the store I work at over the last couple of days, who’ve shown me medical marijuana recipient cards (the smell of their medication was rather potent, and I had asked what it was without realizing). This got me curious. Does anyone know any dispensaries in Washington State (I’ve come to the obvious conclusion they exist, but to my eternal shame neglected to inquire further)? I’ve tried various search engines and the Yellow Pages, to no avail. If not, do you know a better way I could look for them, such as a website that could connect me? Furthermore, are the employees at such places all medical staff (as in, doctors and nurses), or are there lay people as well? Finally, is it all volunteer, or are there paid positions?
Edit: It occurs to me that I should add that my motivations regarding this are solely related to wanting to help people, and disliking my current job. I don’t even smoke marijuana.

Perl/PHP Programmer with 5 years experience for a 2 year old web company with high growth and backed by Sequoia Ventures.

The job market is great, so I’m guessing 5K, but am I overshooting too far?
I’d like to know for the San Jose (Bay Area) market and the Los Angeles market.

I already know that 0K in the Bay Area is possible and not overshooting, so that is a baseline.
