Website Traffic?

Hi me and my buddy wants to open a business and the website is a essential part of it. My buddy wants this name for our website URL which he thinks is essential. The problem is that this URL is taken , he wants to break the name of the URL into two words using the "-" sign for example www.autotrader.com would be www.auto-trader.com . My concern is that having a "-" in between will it cause us to lose a lot of traffic to our website. Because when the website is mentiones word of mouth etc will poeple forget the "-" in between and not find our site. Also how much does it cost to get listes on a google search.

any ideas at all ? i know its highly unlikely but , is there a way to bounce the name down the top listings from a google search . maybe by craeting adds on a high page rank to drop the former listings down? ???

How can I increase traffic to my website and get more clicks on my adsense ads?

I have a lot of rich content already, I am utilizing social networking sites like, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and bookmarks like, Stumble upon and digg. I also post on Yahoo Shine and Divine Caroline. Yet I only get sporadic traffic to say the least. Some days I get nothing at all. And almost no clicks on my ads.

Also note that I have articles on ezine, articlesbase. In the past three days I have received no traffic at all which is rare. Has my site be banned by the search engine. Though it still came up when I did a google search couple of minutes ago. Site in question is http://www.woman-incorporated.com.

Increase website traffic?

My mother and I have partnered a business that we run from home. We sell through the website I created using Yahoo’s website builder. The problem is that we need to create more traffic TO our website. We don’t exactly have an advertising budget, being as small as we are. Right now, we are registered on the Yahoo and Google search engines. I have even set up an account with both for pay per click advertising. This has helped, but not enough. I am learning, but I am certainly no webmaster. How can I create more traffic to the website so we can generate more business?

Why does the following website have a Google page-rank of zero come up 1st when doing a Google search?

If you type "edi van" (without the quotes) in a Google search, this site http://www.nubridges.com/products/connectivity/edivan/
comes up first and it has a zero pagerank. My site has a pagerank of 3 and comes up in 80th place.
My URL is http://www.dmovers.com/vanservices.aspx

Thanks for answering. In fact, all of my keywords come up around 80 when doing a search. But they have excellent search result position in Yahoo and MSN.

I have recently made a website and would like to know how to find out where it ranks on google when u type certain words into the google search field.

I looked at some google page rank thing but it mentioned something about needing a soap key which they aren’t giving out anymore.

Is there a way to search within a google search, so-to-speak? I’d like to find how many pages back a website is for a given search term — or if it registars at all! So If I search for, say, "Pirates", is there a way of finding out if my web page "davespiratesite.com" is being pulled up in the search results?

Does this make sense?

Does anyone have any experience with using Google AdWords?

The company I work for just changed websites and we have taken a bit of a hit in search engine placement because of it. Until we get the kinks worked out as far as SEO, I was thinking of using a Pay Per Click ad service such as Google AdWords. Does anyone have any experience with this? Also, I noticed that Google AdWords places your companies linkback on the side of the google search (the right margin). How do you get it to be placed at the top of the search? Thanks.
