How do I get Keywords & phrases into my website?
I have a website hosted for 4 months but no keywords seem to activate any activity. No reply, if I ask for "Diabetes" which appears in my site, my site does not come up in any browser. I know, I’m a computer dummy but is it possible that I don’t have a good firm doing my hosting? My website is www.wintsdiabetesbooks.com if that will help you answer my question.

few resources, one that is current and good is seochat.com
They can help you with all sorts of search engine optimization stuff. Also, you need to get your site out there with links to it from other parts of the internet. A good resource I find for this is free classifieds, your ad has a link to your website, it gets seen so people go to your site, but, also when those sites are indexed, your link also gets picked up. A few preliminary points:
1) Diabetes is an extremely competitive keyword. My research indicates that there are some 1,720,000 sites which are in some way or other optimized for that word – that is an extremely large number of sites to compete against. What’s more, my initial analysis of the top sites which come up for that keyword indicates that they are very well optimized for that phrase. It will, indeed, be rather hard to compete against them. However, that’s not such a problem because…
2) You don’t really want to optimize your site for Diabetes — it is far too general a keyword. Rather, you want to optimize your site for phrases such as "diabetes diet", "diabetes diet plan", "diabetes book", etc. These are far more specific phrases which relate directly to your product, and which have less competition.
3) You will need to create unique web pages for each of the keywords that you want to rank well in the search engine. In general, you can optimize a page for 1 – 2 main keywords and a few of related terms.
